“Really poor experience without even making it to the hotel. Maybe this was Hilton in general and the way they operate their booking system. Tried to contact hotel to ask if junior suite would accommodate a second child as not clear in their listing as did not want to book and turn up to a surprise. Could not get through to the hotel on their local number (was told later by Hilton call staff that this hotel do not answer their phones on purpose but allow the call to go through to their reservation system) so off to a bad start. The reservation team could not resolve my question directly either so they tried to contact the hotel 3 times!!! No response; they even tried housekeeping, no response. They kept apologising and saying that this particular hotel is known for this. In the meantime the room has now been booked and no other availability. Given the other recent reviews on this forum for this hotel it seems that maybe we were fortunate we did not get our question answered. Hilton, or maybe this hotel in particular, need to get their act together, and allow for simple questions to be responded to by the hotel themselves. Very poor customer service and not likely to go near a Hilton hotel in the near future. They used to set a high standard but obviously that is far from their standard now, as is shown by their poor reviews and poor rating.”

“Review written for grandparents… We went to this hotel with Edwards Coaches. We were definitely treated differently from guests who had booked independently. On arrival at every other hotel we have been to, the suitcases have been taken to the rooms for us. In this hotel, this was not the case. We all had to take our own luggage and there was no lift. While my husband and I were able to get our luggage to the third floor, many people on Edwards holidays are elderly and struggled. The food served to Edwards guests was different to that of independently paying guests. We were seated in different areas and while they got waiter service we were left to get food from a second class standard buffet. There was not a lot of choice, if you didn’t like fish you would have been in trouble. At one point they ran out of food before all guests had been fed and had to cook some more. We ended up eating bigger lunches to avoid having to deal with the carnage of the buffet each evening. A lot of people complained (us included) as they had minimal hot water so had to complain on numerous occasions to try and get this fixed. The room key cards were barely working and we had to go back down the three flights of stairs to get this fixed twice. This happened to other guests also. Further, part of the attraction of this hotel is that it had an indoor swimming pool and spa facilities. On arrival we were informed that these facilities were under renovation so we could not use them which is disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who is going on a coach tour. It was a real shame as we were looking forward to this trip and it really dampened our week.”
