“I typically don’t go out of my way to post reviews, but our experience at this particular Renaissance has not been good, and given the good reviews, I think it might be helpful for others to read and maybe temper expectations with this particular hotel. Our experience: We went to check in a bit early upon arrival and were told that although a room was not yet ready, that they would contact us when rooms would be done, find us adjacent rooms (we booked two), and offer us rooms on a high floor (defined as 16+ on their site) as an upgrade was otherwise unavailable despite our Marriott status. And they assured us they would bring our bags to the room. Unfortunately 0 out of those 4 things happened, and the front desk backtracked when we returned to tell us that nothing they said was guaranteed and that the hotel is full and there’s nothing they can do. They guaranteed us they’d bring our bags up once again, which of course did not happen until I called them from the room 45 minutes later. Additionally, I just went on the Marriott website and found that they definitely have available high floor rooms that are book-able for our reservation dates. It’s just sad that they set expectations high and don’t deliver. It’d have been better to under-promise instead and not be disingenuous with the room availability etc. Keep in mind that this hotel is more expensive than 95% of others in São Paulo, so I believe that their service should be commensurate! I love the Renaissance brand but this experience was not good thus far. We have another room reserved for later this week which we are considering cancelling given this whole situation.”

“Old building. Generally well maintained. Clean. Comfortable bed and sheets. High floors have great views. Most of the people are great. The hair dryer is better than usual! Huge plus for women. Appreciate it. The lighting in the bathroom isn’t great. The showers are “cabins” - old school, but clean. Drawbacks - there is no heating. They do provide radiators that are good. The elevator waits can be annoying (even through there are 6). The gym is good, in part because it is open to locals to join. It’s always busy when I go and there aren’t really areas for a woman to not be in the middle of all the dudes lifting weights. The bathroom doors often have gaps, which makes so it doesn’t work to steam your clothes while you shower. The breakfast on the restaurant in the lobby is much better than in the club upstairs. The people in the breakfast restaurant are exceptional. Sometimes the rates can be high, and the. I don’t think the value is there. Generally, I like it here. There area is good and nice to walk around with good places to eat.”
