Great hotel. Great spot. Being right in the quarter is amazing. The pool is where we spend alot of time. Most of the experience is wonderful. The lone blemish was the outside bartender. We were ordering drinks just a few at a time, and it did seem expensive. I assumed it's because we were in the quarter. Not fully. Found out way too late the outside bartender was adding charges to our tabs and not telling us to make more money. Just left a bad taste in my mouth. Sadly it may be what I remember most about our stay.

This is the best hotel on Bourbon Street. If you like being in the middle of all the action. You will not get any rest 😴 unless your a heavy sleeper like me. They party all night until 5am🥳🎉 Husband and I enjoyed our stay we had lots of frozen Margaritas. It was definitely worth it 🙂

The hotel was very clean, well maintained, housekeeping was wonderful! We stayed in a suite and had the entire balcony to ourselves. The pool area is gorgeous and well kept, the staff is so kin and quick to help. HIGHLY recommend.

Eu trouxe minha namorada aqui para uma escapadela romântica, pois ela nunca esteve aqui. É tão relaxante de um lugar para ficar, e tudo e todos aqui são tão agradáveis. Os quartos estão sempre limpos, e a equipe é muito simpática. Eles sempre te tratam como se você fosse uma celebridade e outras coisas quando eu sou apenas um cara normal. Ótimo lugar para ficar e ter um ótimo serviço enquanto você faz. Também estávamos reformando nossa cozinha, o que nos ajudou a encontrar este lugar.

I brought my girlfriend here for a romantic getaway as she has never been here. It is so relaxing of a place to stay, and everything and everyone here is so nice. The rooms are always clean, and the staff is so friendly. They always treat you like you are a celebrity and stuff when I am just a regular guy. Great place to stay at and have great service while you do. We were also having our kitchen remodeled which helped us find this place.

O cheiro de maconha e os sons de cães latindo (é um hotel que aceita animais de estimação – um detalhe que não notamos) só aumentava o “ambiente”. As camas vêm com apenas cobertores finos de grau hospitalar, então liguei para a recepção para solicitar edredons. Foi-me dito que eles seriam enviados imediatamente. Depois de uma hora e cerca de mais 15 ligações (sem resposta) para a recepção, tive que descer de pijama para pedir os edredons novamente. Passei por algumas pessoas bêbadas vagando e falando alto no corredor. Eca. A gerência nos deu um reembolso pela diferença de preço entre os tipos de quarto e compensou o estacionamento também - daí as 2 estrelas em vez de uma. Dica para viajantes novos em NOLA como eu: não percebi o quão decadente é o French Quarter. O Royal Sonesta parecia oferecer uma experiência única de NOLA bem no coração da cidade, mas é em uma parte suja, barulhenta e selvagem da cidade, onde os festeiros sem-teto e bêbados se reúnem. Encontramos hotéis mais agradáveis, mais tranquilos e para famílias nas proximidades do Central Business District e do Garden District, que oferecem fácil acesso para visitar todas as partes da cidade sem ter que ficar preso no meio do caos. Nice lobby, pequena sala - parece antigo. A localização é excelente para Bourbon St. Tivemos um quarto com varanda. Foi bom para sentar e observar as pessoas e ouvir música ect. No entanto, se você quiser dormir depois das 2 da manhã, não sugiro este hotel. Just, no. I’m not sure how this is rated a 4-star hotel. First, we booked a quiet/interior room with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. At check in we were informed they were overbooked and had to give us another room type. We ended up in a tiny room with dingy brown carpet near the elevator (noisy) and the worst view the hotel could possibly offer—dirty roofs, back alleys, and neighboring windows. The smell of weed and the sounds of dogs barking (it is a pet-friendly hotel—a detail we failed to notice) only added to the “ambiance.” The beds come with only thin, hospital-grade blankets, so I called the front desk to request duvets. I was told they’d be sent up right away. After an hour and about 15 more (unanswered) calls to the front desk, I had to go downstairs in my pj’s to ask for the duvets again. I walked past a few drunk people loitering and talking loudly in the hallway. Ugh. Management gave us a refund for the price difference between room types and comp’ed the parking too—Hence the 2 stars instead of one. Tip for travelers new to NOLA like me: I didn’t realize how seedy the French Quarter is. The Royal Sonesta seemed to offer a unique NOLA experience right in the heart of the city, but it’s in a dirty, noisy, wild section of town where the homeless and drunk party-goers congregate. We found nicer, quieter, family-friendly hotels in the near by Central Business District and the Garden District that offer easy access to visit all parts of the city without having to be stuck in the middle of the chaos. We recommend one of those.

Nice lobby, small room - seems old. The location is great for Bourbon St. We had a balcony room. It was nice for sitting and people watching and listening to music ect. However, if you want to sleep after 2am, I don't suggest this hotel. Get one on Canal St. They are still close enough to walk to Bourbon and be in the action....but you will be able to sleep at night. It will be quieter. We went from a band playing, to a trumpet, to a jazz band and so on... The staff was friendly when we did deal with them. There is no room service tho.

Bem na rua Bourbon, tínhamos uma varanda na rua lateral e era o equilíbrio perfeito para festejar e dormir. No geral, excelente estadia. Vale cada centavo!

For the French quarter the royal sonesta is a four star hotel.If it was anywhere else in New Orleans or another city it would be a three star hotel.The rooms are old and you’ll get a spring mattress with no padding or luxury linen.The cleaning staff did not fill the soap and they do not refill toiletries.You’ll have to buy your own.I had an interior balcony room and the entire stay the people next to me used my balcony to smoke cigarettes and talk all hours.You see you do not get a private balcony. You get a door that opens up to a wrap around walkway and community chairs.They set their ashtray down and used the table and chairs for my room for their smoking. It was really bad.The hotel is old and they are not maintaining it.Overall it is nice for the French quarter.But it is not a four or five star hotel if it was anywhere else.

Perfect location! Friendly personal and they have even their own jazz club. Also the pool side is lovely and the small garden with a lovely place to sit. Rooms were big for USA standards. And these bathrooms, I felt really comfortable. Definitely recommend it! Good job. And even on the street there was the French quarter festival going on, you couldn't hear anything in the rooms. I slept like a baby!

Excellent hotel, service and location! Staff are amazing and always willing to help. The hotel grounds are gorgeous and kept really well. Have coffee/mimosas at the courtyard in the morning with the fruit trees :). Pool parties are a vibe and you can drink your cocktails in the pool. Right on Bourbon street, we had a side street balcony and it was the perfect balance for partying and sleeping. Overall, excellent stay. Worth every penny!

Packed, rude staff, and dirty. Better options in the area for sure. I understand there are staff shortages, but this was the worst restaurant we visited the whole time we were in NOLA.If you’re bringing a pet- the hotel’s pet relief area is gross and in an awful corner of their garage next to a bunch of loud machines?! How is anyone, let alone a dog, supposed to use a space like that.No room service unless requested, no robes, etc. Highly doubt anyone would have done anything anyway.Definitely much better hotels in the area within short walking distance. Far too pricey for a very underwhelming, less-than-luxurious stay. This is on par with a 2 or 3 star hotel but they can get away with it because of location. I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Entryway is 😍 great place to take pictures if you're staying there. Check in was fast and efficient even though at first they couldn't find my reservation they work diligently to take care of it. Hotel was very welcoming and accommodating and in a great busy location. I rested in my room well as if it was soundproof, I'm not sure. Coffee in the morning at the curbside shop was very beautiful. Don't miss out on taking the coffee out to a lanai that they have there with orange trees‼️ that was very beautiful to look at in the morning. I hope to return to this establishment, it felt very warm and welcoming.

Our experience at this hotel was beyond amazing! It is such a grand and beautiful place and in the heart of everything. Everyone was very attentive to our needs and made sure we were taken care of. It has an amazing restaurant that is on the higher side of cost, but was worth every penny.. My only complaint was the noise from Bourbon St kept us awake at night.. we now know not to book a room facing the street. And that is something we would not blame the hotel for.. Live and learn. I definitely recommend this hotel.

My husband and friend picked the Royal Sonesta as our hotel for a surprise trip to New Orleans. The service was excellent from the start, and we upgraded our room to a spot with a terrace overlooking the pool. The pool area was clean, and it was super quiet for our entire stay. The location is right on Bourbon St. and was super convenient to everywhere we wanted to go. Our room had 2 queen size beds, which was amazing to have the extra space! The bar downstairs makes excellent cocktails and had a burlesque show we popped into for one night. We were unable to evacuate before Hurricane Ida and the hotel took amazing care of us. Denise, April, and Miss Ruthie are absolutely fabulous! Checking in with us multiple times, and we always saw them with a smile on their face despite the circumstances. The fact they stayed to take care of guests while their families evacuated speaks volumes to their dedication. We were so fortunate to have meals every night, charging stations, and eventually a bus to Houston. Overall, we were pleased with our stay. The hotel was very clean and took excellent care of all the guests, especially during the uncertainty of Hurricane Ida. We absolutely would stay here again on our next trip!

The hotel and staff are amazing. My husband and I came down for our 10 year anniversary and 3 days into our trip hurricane Ida hit. We were scared and had no way out and didn't know what to do. This hotel not only let us extend our stay, provided breakfast, dinner and had a bus shuttle us to Houston so we could fly out. They did the best they could to make us comfortable for those 3 days with out power. I am definitely looking forward to visiting again but maybe not during Hurricane season.

The location is fantastic but the experience was not impressive. This was my first stay but I expected more from the hotel. We were surprised to hear that there wasn’t any room service (but we understood). The restaurant downstairs (Desire) was tasty but the service was not awesome. We spent upwards of $300 a night and even had to buy our own bottles of water because the room didn’t offer any… It is a nice place but it felt abandoned… it wasn’t the 5 star service we expect

When we arrived the reception said they were sending housekeeping to do a walk through and ensure everything was there. Half an hour passed and they said they had sent 3 cleaning people to fix our room and were working on it. 2 hour later we got into our room. There was no water or anything in the mini fridge. There was no hangers in the closet. We had to call the front desk 3 times to bring up our bags and eventually went back down to pick up and bring our own bags up. We stayed for 3 nights and four days and in none of those days could we get our room cleaned, our trash taken out or room service. When we spoke to someone downstairs they called housekeeping on the radio to ask when they would get to our room? They responded that they weren’t going to get to it anytime soon. The manager walked away embarrassed to address the issue with housekeeping and asked what were the essentials that we needed. We said fresh towels and they did drop off a bag full of towels in our room. On the second day there we started noticing guests taking out their garbage and leaving it in the hallways because they were also unable to get room service. We paid for a junior suite and paid for a ridiculous amount of money to have this kind of service in one of the most prestigious hotels in New Orleans. This is absolutely the worst stay in Quarter and we will not be returning. Would not recommend to stay here.

The hotel is beautiful. Directions to the parking garage is tricky, but Wilbert, the concierge, stayed on the line with us until we were in the garage and he met us down there! He was fantastic the whole stay-booking dinner reservations for us to helping us book tours of the city. Always had a smile and his personality was awesome! Can't say enough about this man! We had an interior balcony room overlooking the pool which was nice. Would definitely stay here again!
